Publisher: [Iloilo City] : [Ateneo de Iloilo], c2024Description: 60 p.Subject(s): Students--Time management | Academic achievementDDC classification: Ref 373.07 In897 2024 Summary: Balancing academics and extracurricular activities such as music can be challenging for students. There are several responsibilities that are expected from them, which include: attending classes and lessons, practicing daily, and attending performances regularly. To help lessen the struggle of current and incoming student musicians in balancing their studies and music. Interviews were conducted on present senior high student musicians with questionnaires posed to ask about their strategies to balance their studies and extracurricular activities and then compare each to find the most effective methods. The results gathered from each interview are put into separate subgroups that are categorized based on our conceptual framework: Academic Performance, Overall Well-being, and Time devoted to their respective Musical Endeavors. The interviews were able to provide data that resulted in time management as being the main issue in balancing their academics and musicianship. Further findings also showed that in order to balance both activities, students must create a schedule that organizes their priorities based on their personal scale of importance. The results of this study can lay the groundwork for future researchers to investigate more on how to improve the current methods for incoming student-musicians to balance their academics and musical endeavors.
