| 520 | _aHydroponic farming has gained prominence as a sustainable agricultural practice, providing efficient space utilization and controlled environments for crop growth. This study tested the effects of a homemade nutrient solution, specifically rice wash, on the growth of lettuce (Lactuca Sativa) in a vertical hydroponic system with a recirculating drip setup. The experiment used four hydroponic setups: one treated with commercial fertilizer (control) and three treated with different concentrations of rice wash (25%, 50%. and 7s%). A quantitative experimental research design was used, where plant height, number of leaves, and leaf size were measured every three days Over a set period. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests to determine significant differences between the treatments. While no treatment was statistically more effective, the 75% concentration of rice wash showed the highest mean increase in plant height, which might suggest a slight advantage. Results also showed that while rice wash supported plant growth, it was less effective than commercial fertilizer, particularly in increasing plant height and the number of leaves. These findings suggest that rice wash alone may not provide all the necessary nutrients for optimal lettuce growth in hydroponics, though it has potential as an additional organic fertilizer. Future studies should explore improving the nutrient content of rice wash, testing other organic fertilizers, and extending the study duration to develop cost-effective and eco-friendly alternatives to commercial fertilizers. | ||
