520 _aThis research study was carried out to develop an activated carbon filtration material for wastewater treatment of Sto. Niño River using discarded Quail eggshell. Quail eggshells were collected, dried, and subjected to carbonization in a muffle furnace for two hours at temperatures not exceeding 500°C at the Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory - DOST VI. The carbonized carbon was impregnated with sulfuric acid for 24 hrs, soaked in water containing sodium bicarbonate for another 24 hrs, rinsed using distilled water until the pH reaches 7, and was oven-dried again to obtain the activated carbon. Using computational analysis, a 67.59% yield was calculated after the chemical process, which is slightly higher compared to other research studies that utilized different kinds of eggshell. Further, the laboratory analysis of the wastewater at the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) laboratory found out that TSS, and temperature conforms with DENR standard, but pH exceeds the permissible limit before the application of the treatment. A decrease in the levels of pH, TSS, and temperature was recorded after the treatment but statistical analysis using Mann-Whitney U Test demonstrated that a no significant difference between treatment groups was noted. Findings of the study could serve as a frame of reference on installing frameworks for the proper treatment of wastewater and preservation of the country's urban water bodies.
