520 _aIn the Philippines, mosquitoes are insects that are known to transmit different diseases. They usually appear during the rainy season since this is the peak season wherein conditions in the country fit as their habitat for reproduction. And during this stage, mosquitoes feed on warm-blooded organisms such as humans to stay alive, and in the process, they transmit deadly diseases. This study will offer a unique insight to combat mosquitoes from transmitting diseases without harming the users and without the risk of resistance build-up. The researchers used a sound trap to attract mosquitoes and a zapper to zap them. Researchers say the study shows that both attractants have a significant effect in reducing the mortality rate of mosquitoes per day. The effectiveness of the used attractants is similar, with a difference in every intervention, because of that, we cannot determine the effectiveness of each attractant. The p-value is 0.028 based on the results using the Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA. The p-value is less than the level of significance a=0.05 which means the null hypothesis will be rejected. This means that the attractants, sound, B. blumeana, and both show difference in effectiveness in attracting mosquitoes. The results can determine the effectiveness of the attractants. We can only conclude that sound, B. blumeana, and both attractants will have the capability of attracting mosquitoes.
