520 _aThis study investigates the effects of the Total Concentration Breathing Technique (TCBT) on the attention span and academic performance of grade-11 students at Ateneo De Iloilo - Santa Maria Catholic School. Utilizing a quantitative approach within a true experimental design, we divided participants into experimental (n=20) and control (n=20) groups to assess the effectiveness of TCBT. Pre-intervention measures included attention plan testing via Trail Marketing Test (TMT) and academic performance evaluation. The intervention comprised daily TCBT sessions over three weeks. Post-intervention analysis revealed a significant increase in the attention span of the experimental group (z = -2.131, p = .033), affirming TCBT's effectiveness in enhancing concentration. However, contrary to expectations, sinificant decline in academic performance was observed in the experimental group (z = -3.711, p < .001). These findings suggest that while TCBT can enhance attention, its impact on academic performance is complex and may be influenced by factors outside the intervention's scope. Further research is needed to explore these dynamics and optimize TCBT's application in educational settings. This study underscores the potential of breathing techniques in cognitive enhancement but calls for a deeper understanding of their role in academic achievement.
