The main factor in evaluating dressing pads is how much fluid it can absorb, or its water absorption capacity, this study compares the absorption capacity of kapok-based dressing pads to Mediplast, Sure-Guard, and Pro Health Care dressing pads. The kapok fibers were first molded and autoclaved to improve performance during the experiment. The dressing pads were first weighed before being soaked in saline solution for intervals of 15, 30, and 60 minutes before being drained for 5 minutes and weighed again, finding its water absorption percentage.
