Utilization of guava (Psidium guajava) leaf powder as purifying agent on contaminated water from Calajunan creek / by Rlee Andrianne S. Castillo, William Jess Laurence M. Centina, Cyrus Rhyll F. Cerbania, & Chrystelle Eine B. Siangco.

Publisher: [Iloilo City] : [Ateneo de Iloilo], c2023Description: 45 p.DDC classification: Ref 373.07 Ut3 2023 Summary: This research study primarily revolves around the utilization of powder guava (Psidium guajava) leaves as the search for more effective flocculants continues. The study aims to analyze the effects of the application of powdered guava leaves on the different physico-chemical and biological parameters of water samples gathered from Calajuanan creek. To do so, the researchers conducted laboratory experiments that involves boiling and filtration of water, along with the application of the Psidium guajava powder. The samples are analyzed according to the following parameters: pH Level, Color, Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Total Coliform Count (TCC), and Fecal Cauliform Count (FCC). The results showed that change, whether positive or negative , was exhibited in the different parameters. The values of Color and TSS rose dramatically, while the values of Total and Fecal Coliform Count, and the pH level ever-so-slightly dipped. With all this considered, it could be concluded that the application of powdered guava leaves didn't have much effect on the purification of the water samples, according to the results in different scientific endeavors involving powdered guava leaves. As such, the researchers have made recommendations like choosing the appropriate filter tailored to the water source and evaluating the stability of the powdered guava (Psidium guajava) leaves.
