Specifically, the study aims to find out the species diversity, and the blue carbon sequestration of each plot. Alongside a forester from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the researchers created three sampling stations with five 10x10 meter plots each. In each plot, the species present, the number of mangroves present, diameter at breast height of each tree, and its height were measure accordingly. These data were then used to solve the blue carbon sequestration using an adopted formula and species diversity using Shannon-wiener diversity index. After this, the species diversity and average blue carbon sequestration per plot was run through SPSS to determine a possible correlation using Pearson's correlation. The results show that there is no significant correlation between the two variables with a significance value of -0.003. This means that the diversity has no effect on the blue carbon sequestration. With this, the researchers recommend that the mangroves must be regularly monitored, the school must collaborate with stakeholders, and further research with the intervention to the mangrove area should be implemented.
