Summary, etc. In the past years, as medicines began to be more accessible to everyone, antimicrobial resistance has occurred due to human misuse and overuse. This study explored the anti-bacterial properties of Santan (Ixora coccinea) flower against the bacterium Group A Streptococcus. The Kirby-Bauer method was used to identify the potential properties of Ixora coccinea Flower ethanolic extract as a potential component to inhibit the bacterium GAS. This organism was exposed to different concentrations of the ethanolic extract of Ixora coccinea flower, the positive control, penicillin G (Benzylpenicillin), and the negative control, distilled water, showed a significant difference in the mean of the zone of inhibition. It was observed that the findings show from the varying concentration of Ixora coccinea (50%, 75%, 100%) that the W-value yielded ±3.83 and the p-value yielded 0.167, which does not reach statistical significance (p<0.05). In conclusion, the study shows that the tested concentrations were not able to yield any zone of inhibition or inhibit the bacteria. The researchers recommend future experiments to explore different extraction methods of the Ixora coccinea flowers, such as methanol, hydroalcoholic, and aqueous extraction, to use Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) instead of distilled water for the diluent, to include more replicates and wider range of concentrations, to conduct a phytochemical analysis of Ixora coccinea to identify the specific bioactive compounds that are present and to use the leaves instead of flowers, which may inhibit the Group A Streptococcus and yield a zone of inhibition results.
