| Summary, etc. | This study examined the influence of pocket money and internal influences on the fast-food spending behavior of Senior High School (SHS) students at Ateneo de Iloilo-SMCS using a quantitative descriptive-correlational and comparative design. Data were collected from 217 SHS students through stratified and simple random sampling using a researcher-developed questionnaire. The study investigated whether relationships and significant differences exist in pocket money and internal influences on spending behavior when students are grouped according to their demographic profile. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, independent samples t-test, and one-way ANOVA were used to analyze the data at a 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed that students' fast-food spending behavior was moderate across all weekly pocket money groups. Significant positive relationships were found among pocket money, internal influences, and spending behavior, with internal influences showing the strongest association. No significant differences were observed in spending behavior based on pocket money and internal influences when students were grouped according to their demographic profile. However, a significant difference in internal influences was observed when students were grouped according to sex. The study concluded that SHS students' fast-food spending behavior is influenced more by pocket money perception (allowance perception) and internal influences than by demographic characteristics or pocket money alone. The study provided recommendations for parents and guardians, educators, and schools, to strengthen students' financial literacy and self-regulation to promote responsible consumption and informed financial decision-making. |
