Summary, etc. | During the pandemic, many businesses slowed down and some people saw this time as an opportunity to start their own small-scale farms to gain income. Hydroponics became popular method with two of the most popular being the Nutrient-Film Technique (NFT) and the Kratky Method. However, there is a lack of existing research on the best methods to use as an average person in the Philippine context. This experimental study aims to compare the NFT system with the Kratky method system in the production and quality of lettuce, determine the best methods and options that can be used in a small-scale lettuce hydroponics plantation, and discern whether starting a hydroponics plantation is an overall goo investment. The researchers will start the experiment by planting 100 Crystal lettuce seeds, 50 for each system, and observing each sample's height, width of the biggest leaf, number of leaves, and growth rate every three days within 33 days, this process will be done twice. The researchers will then analyze the date by randomly selecting 30 samples from each system and comparing their data to determine the system that produces more and better-quality lettuce and which is more cost-effective. Using the findings of this study, the researchers will propose the use of the most effective hydroponics technique for the renovation of the hydroponics greenhouse located at the back of the school for the benefit of the whole Ateneo community. |
