| Summary, etc. | Academic literacy has been linked to parental involvement in children's education, particularly during the primary years. This engagement can take many different forms, such as keeping track of schoolwork, corresponding with teachers, and taking part in extracurricular activities. In primary education, where students are still developing fundamental academic literacy skills, parental involvement can be especially impactful as it fosters a beneficial parent-to-child relationship. The study aims to identify how the academic literacy of 5th and 6th elementary students is influenced by how their parents involve themselves in their academic activities. To determine this, the research provided a questionnaire and interview for students in grade 5 to 6 studying at the Ateneo de Iloilo - Santa Maria Catholic School. The results show that 5th and 6th - grade school learners who involve in the phenomenon of parental involvement in their studies are more academically literate, implying that parental involvement and academic literacy have a significant relationship. This shows the significance of parental involvement and academic literacy for 5th and 6th - grade learners. Moreover, the data provided showed that parental involvement and academic literacy have a moderate positive significant relationship, thus, learners who interact more with their parents in terms of academics, tend to be academically better in general. Future studies can expand their focus grade levels of participants in the primary department and not just in the 5th and 6th - grade levels to extensively identify if the parents are involved in their studies. |
