Summary, etc. | Recent statistical data shows a continuous increase in the projected solid waste generation, with an estimated 23.2 million tons in 2024 and 23.6 million tons in 2025, denoting a 1.7% increase in waste generation. These wastes contribute to the piling sanitary landfills and natural resources are harmed from littering it. The researchers conducted a study with 20 participating households from Barangay Pali Benedicto, Mandurriao who were encouraged to segregate and throw solid wastes in the Barangay Material Recovery Facilities (MRF). The study aims to analyze if an intervention, a reward system, is effective in increasing the awareness of the residents in practicing solid waste management and encourage them to throw their solid waste in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The participants were divided into two groups: the experimental and control groups as the Randomized Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design is utilized. Furthermore, a statistical analysis was done after tabulating the result of the pretest and posttest measures. The reward system did not significantly change the number of households throwing and segregating wastes in the Material Recovery Facility (MRF). |
