Summary, etc. | Effective waste segregation is crucial for environmental sustainability, but it remains a significant challenge in the Philippines. To promote proper waste segregation, the researchers developed 'VidECO, a series of interactive videos about waste segregation, to foster awareness. The study aimed to evaluate the impact of VidEO on the waste segregation awareness levels of Grade 6 students at Ateneo de Iloilo-Santa Maria Catholic School. 60 participants were divided into two groups - an intervention group and a control group - that were both given a pretest to assess their initial waste segregation awareness level. The intervention group then was exposed to VidEO for three weeks, after which both groups took a post-test. The researcher-made questionnaire used was validated by three experts, and its reliability was set at 0.7 Cronbach's alpha. The pretest results showed that the students had moderate awareness of waste segregation. After VidEO and posttest, a significant difference was observed between the intervention and control groups, indicating that VidEO effectively increased the waste segregation awareness level of the intervention group. It is recommended that educational institutions utilize VidEO to educate students about waste segregation and consider student's learning styles. Future researchers should conduct similar studies with a longer timeframe, a bigger sample size, a more structured implementation of the intervention, broaden the waste segregation concepts discussed in the videos, and enhance the interactivity of the videos. |
