Summary, etc. With the increasing influence of the English language in the Philippines, resulting from globalization, modernization, and its utilization as a primary mode of teaching, the usage of the Filipino language among Filipinos continues to dwindle. This in turn impacts the proficiency and literacy among Filipinos on the Filipino subject, especially the students. Though previous studies were conducted on activities that enhance literacy and proficiency in Filipino, the findings from the explored strategies were not enough to conclude the most effective intervention in developing the literacy of students in the subject. With that in mind, this social experimental study aims to test the effectiveness of interactive learning strategies in terms of enhancing the literacy of Grade 8 students of Ateneo de Iloilo Santa Maria Catholic School in the Filipino subject. The student- researchers made use of a pretest-posttest control group design, having a total 17 volunteers from Grade 8 sections, with 8 assigned to the control group and 9 to the experimental group, which was exposed to the intervention activity. The statistical tool Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test was used in determining if there was a significant difference between the level of proficiency on the Filipino subject in terms of understanding among the Grade 8 Junior High School students before and after interactive learning. After analyzing the results, it was concluded that the intervention had a significant effect on the posttest scores of the experimental group compared to their pretest scores.
