Summary, etc. | The Philippines, being an agricultural country, has potential to be agriculturally-driven and is recognized as one of the top 8 rice producers in the world. Given the abundance in rice production of organic waste known as rice husk. This study aims to extract cellulose from rice husks using an oven and characterize it to observe its properties, specifically its cellulose content, to distinguished its potential as agricultural aid. The procedure in extracting the cellulose from the rice husk was adopted from a method of cellulose extractionfor hydrogel synthesis based on the study of Abdulhameed et al. (2020). Cellulose extracted from the rice husks proceeded as good results as characterized in the FT-IR spectroscopy and showed correlations in terms of absorption peaks to succeeding related studies. Hence cellulose extracted from rice husks with the use of an oven resulted in a byproduct which serve as agricultural aid and a subject to be studied further for strengthening reviews on utilizing rice husk and cellulose from organic waste in agriculture. |
